Stein traces and characterizing slopes

چکیده

We show that there exists an infinite family of pairwise non-isotopic Legendrian knots in the standard contact 3-sphere whose Stein traces are equivalent. This is first example such phenomenon. Different constructions developed article, including a annulus twist, explicit Weinstein handlebody equivalences, and discussion on dualizable patterns setting. These can be used to systematically construct distinct with contactomorphic $$(-1)$$ -surgeries and, many cases, equivalent traces. In addition, we also discuss characterizing slopes provide results opposite direction, i.e. describe cases which trace, or contactomorphism type r-surgery, uniquely determines isotopy type.

Characterizing slopes for torus knots

A slope p q is called a characterizing slope for a given knot K0 in S if whenever the p q –surgery on a knot K in S is homeomorphic to the p q –surgery on K0 via an orientation preserving homeomorphism, then K D K0 . In this paper we try to find characterizing slopes for torus knots Tr;s . We show that any slope p q which is larger than the number 30.r 1/.s 1/=67 is a characterizing slope for T...

Characterizing and modeling people movement from mobile phone sensing traces

With the ubiquity of mobile phones, a high accuracy of characterizing and modeling people movement is achievable. The knowledge about people’s mobility enables many applications including highly efficient planning of cities’ resources and network infrastructures, or dissemination of safety alerts. However, characterizing andmodeling people movement remain very challenging due to difficulties in...

Holomorphic fiber bundle with Stein base and Stein fibers

A surjective holomorphic map Π : X → Y between complex spaces is said to be a Stein morphism, if for every point y ∈ Y , there exists an open neighborhood U of y such that Π(U) is Stein. In 1977, Skoda [12] showed that a locally trivial analytic fiber bundle Π : X → Ω with Stein base and Stein fibers is not necessarily a Stein manifold. Thus giving a negative answer to a conjecture proposed in ...

Stein E

We present a certain geometrical interpretation of the natural numbers, where these numbers appear as joint products of 5and 3-multiples located at specified positions in a revolving chamber. Numbers without factors 2, 3 or 5 appear at eight such positions, and any prime number larger than 7 manifests at one of these eight positions after a specified amount of rotations of the chamber. Our appr...

Stein Points

An important task in computational statistics and machine learning is to approximate a posterior distribution p(x) with an empirical measure supported on a set of representative points {xi}i=1. This paper focuses on methods where the selection of points is essentially deterministic, with an emphasis on achieving accurate approximation when n is small. To this end, we present Stein Points. The i...
